Welcome to the Museum
In the Interest of Wood & Plywood and the Future of our Environment
100 Years since the birth of plywood in Japan. In October, 2007, the first Wood & Plywood Museum in the world opened. Not only for accumulating information and displaying exhibits, the Wood & Plywood Museum is a museum that also contributes to making a prosperous society in which nature and people can mutually coexist. By coming into contact with everyone, the museum is "in the interest of wood & plywood and the future of our environment" and is a place where people can gain a new understanding of living with a feeling of ease that is brought about by trees and of preventing global warming with the use of forest resources.
Japan, a country blessed with plentiful forest resources and water; by all means, please come for a visit.

Welcome to Wood & Plywood Museum
In the entrance room, there are several logs, representative of Japan, and basic features such as difference in wood color, cracks due to drying, and discoloration can be seen.
From the displayed exhibits in the environment section, you can learn about problems that engulf forestry, concrete proposals to solve those problems, facts of nature based on the carbon cycle, mechanisms of global warming, measures to prevent it, and other issues.
In the plywood section, you can compare actual samples of plywood and the classifications of plywood based on the JAS standards. You can see and understand the manufacturing process of plywood in a diorama setting with "Nedanon," a thick plywood, and a model building that uses "Nedanon." The outer drive of the veneer lathe is a special feature of the museum. The reason is that boards can be made even from thin, curved material taken from forest thinnings. This makes forestry a wonderful, hidden potential. Seeing is believing, so please, by all means, come to the museum and have a look. Also, please feel free to ask any questions. The staff and I are here to answer them.
